Using Social Platforms to Reconnect with Old Friends… and perhaps for some Business too!
November 25, 2008
Take the time to reconnect with old friends. Join Facebook , LinkedIn, or any other social platform available on the internet. Use the tools that are being created for you!
I just joined Facebook a couple of months ago and have receonnected with friends from High School! People whom I haven’t seen nor spoken with in over 10, 15 years. These social platforms help to make the world seem just a little smaller, a little cozier.
I must advise though to be cautious as to who you befriend and the information you chose to share publicly. Keep track of people on your list. Review from time to time to remember who your “friends” are! You might not want to let certain people know certain intimate details of the happenings in your life.
Facebook v. LinkedIn – my understanding thus far is that Facebook is definitely much more of a social gathering platform although there is a marketplace whereby you can post ads and events for your business. I’m still becoming familiar. LinkedIn appears to be more of a professional gathering platform. People are posting resumes, help wanted, gathering for professional networking and associations. I’m exploring this one too. There are numerous options available. Explore as many as you can, get familiar and see which one works better for you. Or both perhaps. It all depends on your purpose.
Use these tools. They are free and can be quite an asset to building your business… and your personal life too!
